Boron nitride can be used to manufacture crucibles for melting semiconductors and high-temperature containers for metallurgy, semiconductor heat dissipation insulation parts, high-temperature bearings, thermocouple casings, and glass forming molds, etc.It has good heat resistance, thermal stability, thermal conductivity, high temperature dielectric strength, and is an ideal heat dissipation material and high temperature insulating material. Boron nitride has good chemical stability and can resist the corrosion of most molten metals. It also has good self-lubricating properties. Boron nitride products have low hardness and can be machined with an accuracy of 1/100mm.
Boron Nitride Properties
Bn is the isoelectronic body of C2, so Bn has similar structure and physical properties to carbon. Bn has two structures, one is a hexagonal structure similar to graphite; the other is a cubic structure similar to diamond. Hexagonal boron nitride is an excellent lubricant, while cubic boron nitride is an inorganic synthetic material whose hardness is second only to diamond. Boron nitride material is very strong, but the density (2.3g/cm3) is lower than aluminum metal, so it is a lightweight, high strength material.
