A crucible is a cup-shaped vessel used in laboratories, first used in alchemical experiments. The purpose is to hold liquid or solid for high temperature heating. In metallurgy the vessel for melting metals is also called a crucible. The crucible material requires heat resistance, relatively strong, and is not easy to chemical reaction at high temperature. Traditional crucible for ceramic production, modern useful graphite, platinum, nickel, chromium and other metals.
